HearingGearGuide earns commissions through the Amazon Associates programme. We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

What this means in practice

Product links on this site carry a tracking tag. If you follow one and buy something, Amazon pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you pay is the same as it would be had you gone to Amazon directly.

Every product card, product name and buy button on a page wraps the same link, so there is no hidden link and nothing that looks like editorial text but is not. The disclosure appears once in the footer of every page that carries such a link, which is where the Associates operating agreement requires it to be.

What it does not influence

It does not change which products we recommend, and the clearest evidence for that is what we refused to carry. Forty searches returned 296 unique products and we kept 118. We rejected 43 unbranded marketplace amplifiers listed as over the counter hearing aids, every one of which would have earned exactly the same commission as the products we kept. We rejected products whose stated brand and title disagreed, duplicate listings of a single model, and every tinnitus sound therapy device we found.

The full list, with the reason for each rejection, is published in the repository that builds this site and is summarised on our methodology page. A recommendation is only worth reading if the writer was willing to leave money on the table, so we have documented where we did.

We also carry products in a category that earns us less. Personal sound amplifiers are cheaper than hearing aids and we carry them, clearly labelled as not being hearing aids, because a reader who genuinely needs one is badly served by pretending they do not exist.

We are not paid by any manufacturer

No manufacturer pays us for coverage, placement or a favourable review. We have no sponsored posts on this site, no paid placements in any roundup, and no arrangement with any hearing aid company. Nobody sees a page before it is published. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page in question and not only here.

Prices shown were accurate when the page was generated and change constantly. Amazon's price at the moment you order is the one that applies, and we have no control over it. Treat every figure on this site as a guide rather than a quote.
